Our missions team is coming home this week and should be with us this Sunday. Let me encourage you to stay in prayer for each of them, especially the transformation each of them will undergo from their experience. Please pray for my meeting with Scripps City Council, THIS Thursday evening at 7 PM. I would also ask you to pray that our attorney would have a great showing with the city of San Diego, as we continue to move forward on our CUP in the hope and anticipation of getting the permit we need, to be able to move forward into our new church home. Additionally, there are many people in our church family who are struggling in different ways and they would certainly appreciate your prayers as well. If you would like to be on our prayer chain just email any of our pastors.
Come to think of it, how have you been doing on your daily prayers? I was really encouraged this past Sunday to see most of you raise your hand and acknowledge that you are praying daily and intentionally! I hope to remind and encourage each of you in the same way, to be sure that you are reading God's Word on a daily basis. Keep in mind that abiding in God's Word is something that's going to take a few weeks of practice to become a habit, yet many of you have already developed this practice as the rest of us are just working to get up to speed.
So far we've been talking about 2 ways God uses to spiritually transform ourselves - Word and prayer. I introduced the 3rd part of the equation this past Sunday. It's called action! Prayer is our tool for direction. God's Word is our tool for wisdom. However, once we have formed the habits of prayer and spending time in God's Word, its time for action! Put it all together and you have God's recipe for continuous spiritual growth, which also opens the door for God's blessing! And, don't forget, all of this will be powerless unless we seek the power and strength of the Holy Spirit who is our Helper.
As I mentioned last Sunday, this coming Sunday will be very special, as we will be looking at verses that teach us about all aspects of God's MORAL will. We are currently learning about the difference between God's permissive, sovereign and moral wills.
Remember to keep working on your own personal time in prayer, time in God's Word. Following up these habits with action, as you cooperate with the Holy Spirit, seeking His wisdom and guidance.
James 4:17 Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.
Serving him until he returns,
Pastor Steve
